We are thrilled to officially launch the digital home of the Biohybrid Macromolecular Materials group at TU Darmstadt! While our research has been in full swing since January 2025, this site serves as a central hub to showcase our mission, our growing team, and our latest breakthroughs in the engineering of synthetic life.

Reflecting on 2025

It has been a transformative year since establishing the group through the DFG Emmy Noether Programme. From setting up our labs at the Department of Chemistry (thank you for the hospitality!) to welcoming our new PhD students and postdocs, we have hit the ground running.

Looking Ahead to 2026

The momentum isn’t slowing down. We are preparing for a major milestone in April 2026, when I will officially transition to a W1 Professorship here at TU Darmstadt. This step will further solidify our group’s presence in the German synbio landscape and expand our capacity for ambitious, long-term research projects.

We invite you to explore our new Research page for a deep dive into our projects or visit the People section to meet the talented researchers driving this work forward.
